These are some of the works produced during my postgraduate studies at VITA (Visual Islamic and Traditional Arts) in London.
During the intense courses of the first year, I was introduced to the traditional techniques of disciplines such as Indian miniature, Icons, Persian miniature, Islimi or arabesque, Painting on ceramic plates, Calligraphy, Wood marquetry, Gilding, Stained Glass and Methods and materials. The ethos of the school emphasizes the use of traditional methods of painting, which includes the handmade paper (called wasli), the handmade brushes and the making of natural pigments using vegetal or mineral materia prima.
The most important element, however, is the right approach towards work, a mixture of a contemplative attitude and the awareness of the quality of materials involved in the process of creation. The aim is always to be able to canalize and create Beauty.
